Trent Henderson’s Journey

Trent Henderson’s connection to Tasmania’s land and people began early in life. Listening to stories told by second- and third-generation farmers and his family’s long ties to the landscape, Trent developed a deep fascination with how people interact with the places they call home.

His academic journey, including a Master of Environmental Planning from the University of Tasmania, and over 15 years of experience in local government, allowed him to combine his love of design, history, and community development into a career that helps shape the future of Tasmania’s urban and rural spaces.

Frustrated by the limitations of working within the public sector, Trent decided to create Red Seal Planning during the uncertainty of 2020 to provide innovative, client-focused solutions to help people achieve their visions by guiding them through the complexities of Tasmania’s planning systems, providing clear, honest advice along the way.

In 2025 Trent joined Pitt & Sherry as a Principal Planner, stepping into a new role leading a team and mentoring emerging planners, allowing him to continue working with purpose, supporting good planning outcomes and nurturing the next generation of planners.

"We can’t thank Trent Henderson enough for his support and expertise in helping us secure approval for our development application. Our rural property, with its numerous overlays and environmental challenges, made the planning process particularly complex. Trent, an experienced planner with deep knowledge of Tasmania’s planning landscape, was essential in navigating these hurdles. Trent's clear communication, realistic solutions, and patience in explaining each step were invaluable, ensuring we always felt informed and confident. Without Trent’s guidance and dedication, achieving this outcome would have been incredibly difficult. The DA process can cause significant stress and carry uncertainty, but with Trent by our side, we were able to approach it with clarity and peace of mind. We highly recommend Trent Henderson to anyone in need of a skilled and reliable planner."
